In 2050, Earth has become a dying, polluted and overpopulated planet and a new colony on another planet is humanity's only hope. A team of American astronauts is sent to Mars to study the possibilities. But when their equipment suffers life-threatening damage, their exploration turns into a nightmare. The astronauts, each a specialist in a different field, struggle to overcome the differences of their personalities, backgrounds and ideologies when they must depend on one another for survival on the hostile surface of Mars.
