On the Farm

1980 - Vancouver -- Downtown - East Side - a densely populated, violent place - a ghetto of the drug addicted, impoverished and disenfranchised. Though violence is a fact of life here -- for over two decades another shadow hung over the Lower East Side with as many as 50 women reported missing between 1978 and 2001. Fifty daughters, sisters, wives and mothers to those who loved them but to the government and police these missing women were of virtually no interest - women ignored because they were considered the detritus of society: native, crack addicted sex workers.
