When Terry learns he's going to be a father, he uproots his pregnant wife from Iowa to Los Angeles to make a low-budget indie film, hoping to sell it to a streamer for a big payday. Documented by his cousin Devin's camera crew, Terry's chaotic attempts to direct are marred by his own flaws, a misguided crush on an actress, conflicts with the crew, and disastrous catering. As the cast and crew abandon the project and his baby's due date looms, Terry must find a way to complete the film -- without changing his stubborn ways.
