After the successful escape from the asylum in Baltimore, Dr. Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) peacefully settles down in Florence, Italy. However, one of his victims, Mason Verger (Gary Oldman), seeks revenge. Now disfigured, paralyzed and on a respirator, Verger plans to draw Lecter out of his hiding place by using one thing Lecter truly cares for: agent Clarice Starling (Julianne Moore).
