In this unjustly neglected gem, Glenn Ford plays the pugnacious patsy in a whip-crack tale of infidelity and murder set in rural Northern California. When his broken-down truck sticks him in a small mining town, Ford -- in classic noir fashion -- finds himself in thrall to a dangerous woman (Janis Carter, one long, tall, sexy drink of arsenic) looking to bump off her husband (Barry Sullivan).
