Virgil, a blind man (Kilmer), gets a chance at regaining his sight if he takes a chance on an experimental procedure, and his architect girlfriend (Sorvino) is there to help him as the effects of the surgery take hold, and his sister (McGillis) is ready to help him adjust if it doesn't work. You see, for the permanently blind to regain sight is not as easy as opening their eyes and perceiving the world... there is much more to it, as the mind and body must adjust to receiving light and dimension and shapes never expereinced before. This movie is a journey from the dark to the light that shows us what such a change in one's life can really mean.
