The Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi

I was skeptical at first thinking about all the samurai movies that show a lot of slashing and more than usual gushing of blood and the strangely super skilled swords play. The usual overly expressive bushido through less than average direction. How ever after seeing zatoichi I dont think you should keep bushido or samurai grandeur in mind. It is the story of an ordinary man (during the years of medieval Japan but I remind you in a less than significant village) with exceptionally gifted skill of sword play and very keen sense of hearing. The story line although being among the many it is told with reasonable twist and keeps you guessing till after the movie. Sword play although was significant but not overly displayed which is a good thing and the typical much expressed blood splatter is however very controlled for a samurai movie (CGI here too) I was wondering however with the kind of wounds inflicted there should be atleast the usual blood splatter and cloth staining. Whether it can be compared with Quentin Ts style I dont think so at all. The Ideas of both ways of movie making are totally different. So I think you should go watch the movie it is a good Japanese production.
